How crazy it is that we have finally reached the week leading up to one of the most significant holidays, Christmas! As the year comes to an end, I’ve been seeing a ton of statuses, tweets, meme’s etc on social media that elude to the fact that most of us can’t wait to have a clean slate and begin a new year for one reason or another. I have witnessed many people say “2016 was awful, I can’t wait for this year to be over!” Truth be told, I am more than sure we’ve all experienced our share of ups and downs this year. But, if you’re reading this take great pride in the fact that YOU MADE IT!
As a reminder to myself as well as you, I want us to remember that with every trial and tribulation comes a lesson learned. It is natural for us to feel like we want to press restart and begin something new, we have all been there dozens of times. Although, we don’t often think about the lessons we’ve learned within our struggle, remember you have to go through something to grow. In regard to personal growth, this has been a great year for me. I’ve endured a few situations that required me to lean on my faith in God, and trust my own intuition! I’ve learned the importance of being very specific with my prayers. Praying for exactly what it is I need from God, has made me very aware of his answers when they come. I’ve also learned to trust myself and my personal judgement more than ever this year. As I said in my previous post, listening to outsiders in regard to how you should live your life, is not considered living. I am in no way saying that opinions outside of your own aren’t valid, but take a chance and trust your own judgment sometimes!
Most of all I’ve learned how important it is to live in the moment and do exactly what makes you happy. Doing whatever it is that you love automatically leads to a more fulfilling life. Personally, doing what I love keeps me motivated to meet my goals and once I do the feeling of accomplishment is everything! I hope that you all approach this new year with a positive mindset, but also take a moment to reflect on 2016. Whether it was an amazing or not so great a year for you, keep in mind that struggles only last for a season and we are rapidly approaching a new one!
