So…I feel like at some point every blogger discusses why they began blogging. I realize I probably should have done this a while ago, but as of late I have been getting a lot of general questions about my blog, and why I started blogging. Well! first and foremost, I have always admired style bloggers and various Tumblr accounts. Before Instagram started to boom, I would always stalk my favorite style bloggers. Not so much for inspiration, just because I was super fascinated with their internet lives. One of my favorite bloggers was and will ALWAYS be Karla Deras. In my opinion, she will forever be the GOAT of fashion blogging! It wasn’t until my senior year, last semester of college that I began blogging. During that time, all I found myself doing was school work, studying, and going to work. I did not feel like I was doing anything outside of school that I was extremely passionate about. Honestly, even though I was on the verge of graduation I can admit that I was a bit unhappy. Maybe it was the stress and anxiety of graduation building up, but all I know is at that time I did not feel like I had accomplished much at all.
From the beginning of time, I have always loved fashion and beauty. I know, the extreme girly girl! And my friends, as well as random people that I would encounter from time to time would often compliment me on my look. Whether it be what I had on, my hair, makeup whatever I would always receive endless compliments and questions, which I definitely appreciated! Also, I would often be asked for styling advice from my friends, or questions about where I purchased certain items. I have never been the type of person to be secretive about where I purchased something, I get really annoyed with women who are…like for what?!
As I began to follow more style and lifestyle bloggers on Instagram, I had a ‘come to Jesus moment’ I thought to myself, I CAN DO THIS, I SHOULD DO THIS! I don’t know about you, but I have always had ideas of things I wanted to do. Either I didn’t do or I attempted to, and gave up too soon. I decided to actually put my best foot forward and give blogging a try, and I am glad I did! From the beginning being that I was still in school, my posting was very scattered. I just couldn’t find the time between studying, group meetings and work to actually sit and create blog posts. Once I graduated, I made the decision to take blogging more serious, because I actually LOVE doing it. I love putting together different looks, I love sharing my thoughts with you all about style, and did I mention I LOVE taking pictures, lol!
My blog definitely has a long way to go before I can say that I am 100% satisfied with the look of it. I am currently working with a website designer on something totally different. I only hope to advance with my blogging, and continue to inspire the everyday girl who loves fashion or needs guidance putting together a look. Never hesitate to reach out to me if you need assistance on how to style an outfit! I recently received my Image Consulting Certification through an online course. Everyday, I am taking the necessary steps to advance towards my career in Image Consulting. Also, all of my wardrobe styling and image consulting services will be offered on my new website. Stay tuned for that!
I know at times we have all found ourselves in a slump where we feel like “what am I doing with my life?” I want to encourage you to take a moment and seek out your passion. Once you discover what that is, put your best foot forward and GO FOR IT! As a Blogger, I realize blogging can be a bit intimidating because it is such a saturated field. You see so many cool blogs and think “I want my blog to look like this!” But remember, the popular bloggers did not begin with these fabulous websites. They started small, just like us and advanced as their business and viewers began to grow. The hard part is STARTING, once you have overcome that hurdle the remainder of your journey is yours to create and continue advancing!
