Wherever you’re located, I know without a shadow of a doubt IT IS COLD! Winter weather/storm alerts have been popping up all over Metro Atlanta. I know I have said this before, but winter is definitely NOT my favorite season; although dressing for winter, I LOVE! Of course I am always in dark clothing, and this particular day was no different (inserts side eye because I thought one of my 2016 style resolutions was to add more color into my wardrobe).

Getting dressed can be difficult for some during the winter season, because you really have to know how to piece a look together without looking as though you have on too many layers, and still maintain your sexy. I am always here to offer advice and this post is no different. A few rules that I go by in terms of styling myself in the winter season include:

1) Playing up your shape- I have NEVER been a fan of showing too much skin, most of the time it is distasteful and that has never been my style. So, to “maintain my sexy” I chose pieces that compliment my shape, particularly during the winter, when showing skin is out of the question anyway. It is so important to know what works for your body/shape and what doesn’t, no matter the season. While it is cold, wear items that compliment your amazing silhouette!

2) Layering!- Major key (khaled voice) to brave the coldness! – Plaid button-downs, denim jackets and vests. Sweaters, leather moto jackets, and throw over ponchos. Knit tops, cardigans and wool coats. ALL of pieces in these “set” suggestions can be worn as an outfit, without looking tacky and thrown together, and I can assure you that you will stay warm throughout the day!

3) Chic and Cozy!- It is super important to know what materials will retain the most warmth for your satisfaction. Wool is one of the best materials for providing excellent warmth, as well as cashmere, another form of wool. Hence, why I have on this black wool coat, it’s super warm, yet chic. I can wear it with almost anything (dressed up or dressed down.)

4) Faux Faur- Coat, Vest, Stole WHATEVER! Faux fur is sure to keep you warm. It can be worn with distressed denim jeans, a t-shirt and a pair of pumps, or you can try how I styled my faux fur stole. I wear this stole as a collar over my favorite moto jacket all the time, and it gives my outfit a super chic appeal. PLUS, it keep my neck extremely warm!
